During the Dark Ages between the 3rd and 5th centuries, Christianity found its way to Ireland, becoming a ray and glimmer of light amidst the doom and gloom. This resonates sharply with the scripture in Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” This was Ireland’s Golden Era as it became a burgeoning land of art and literature, culture and Christianity, and many of Ireland’s most famous saints were prominent around the world at this time. Some of these became missionaries to Africa, Asia and the Americas, bringing the fire of the gospel to the hinterlands. Has the light that shone from this emerald isle burned out? Has the God proclaimed by Ireland’s patron saint, St. Patrick and other revivalists ceased to exist? For Christians in Ireland, hearing about such a revival program targeted at re-digging the wells of revival in Europe is a fulfilment of our long-term prayers and intercession. We yearn to see the land of Saints and Scholars return to its former glory and become once again the land known for godliness and sending missionaries.
We long to see Jesus lifted high, and to see miracles, signs and wonders happen once again on the streets of our beloved country. We long to see the salvation of both young and old, and to witness this nation return to its godly heritage through this revival programme in Jesus’ Name.
Psalm 85:6 (KJV) Wilt thou not revive us again: That thy people may rejoice in thee?
